A Message from Daniel Correa

As the Managing Director of DAC Consulting Services, I recently had the privilege of attending the SCCA24 conference, an event that left an indelible mark on my perception of the future of arbitration, particularly in the MENA region. Held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this conference brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, including public figures, representatives from various arbitration centers and courts such as UNCITRAL, ICSID, PCA, ICCA, DIFC, and seasoned practitioners from around the globe.

The overarching theme centered on the burgeoning growth of Riyadh and the construction industry in the region, with a targeted vision extending to 2030.

The significance of this conference cannot be overstated. It served as a testament to the dynamic transformation underway in Riyadh, positioning the city as a hub for international arbitration and a beacon of opportunity in the MENA region. The palpable energy and enthusiasm among attendees underscored the collective commitment to driving progress and fostering a conducive environment for business and investment.

At DAC Consulting Services, we were honoured to not only attend but also sponsor this remarkable event. Our participation reaffirmed our steadfast dedication to the MENA region and our belief in its immense potential. As advocates for the advancement of arbitration and dispute resolution mechanisms, we recognise the pivotal role they play in facilitating economic development and ensuring a fair and efficient means of resolving disputes.

One of the most compelling aspects of the SCCA24 conference was the diversity of perspectives and expertise represented. The exchange of ideas and insights among industry leaders and practitioners enriched the discourse and illuminated innovative approaches to addressing complex challenges. From navigating cross-border disputes to leveraging technology for enhanced efficiency, the discussions offered valuable insights that will undoubtedly shape the future of arbitration in the region.

Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to return to Riyadh for the SCCA25 conference in 2025. Our commitment to being active participants in the growth and development of this vital industry remains unwavering. As the landscape continues to evolve, we are committed to leveraging our expertise and resources to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of arbitration practices and the broader economic prosperity of the MENA region.

In conclusion, the SCCA24 conference was not just a gathering of industry stakeholders; it was a catalyst for change and a testament to the transformative power of collaboration and innovation. Riyadh's ascent as a global arbitration hub is a testament to the vision and determination of its leaders and the collective efforts of all those invested in its success. As we reflect on the insights gained and the connections forged at this landmark event, we are inspired to redouble our efforts in shaping a future where arbitration serves as a cornerstone of economic growth, stability, and prosperity in the MENA region and beyond.
