As the Middle East continues to lead the world in large-scale infrastructure and energy development, the region has also become a focal point for complex construction and engineering disputes. Against this backdrop, DAC Consulting Services is proud to host a thought-provoking panel discussion during Dubai Arbitration Week 2025, exploring the technical, contractual, and procedural challenges that define mega-project disputes in the region.

The session, titled “Mega-Project Disputes in the Middle East: Technical Failures, Delay Claims, and Arbitration Strategies,” will take place on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Ritz-Carlton DIFC (Salon 3).

A World-Class Line-Up of Experts

The discussion will be moderated by Efstathios Maliakis, Head of Power (EMEA) at DAC Consulting Services, and will bring together a distinguished panel of industry leaders, including:

  • Sam Song, Partner – Squire Patton Boggs
  • Sajid Suleman, Barrister – Outer Temple Chambers
  • Shruti Sahu, Senior Legal Counsel – ENGIE
  • Victoria Cunningham, Deputy General Counsel – EWEC

Together, they will unpack how mega-projects — often defined by multi-billion-dollar investments, tight delivery schedules, and diverse stakeholder interests — can face disputes stemming from technical failures, delay claims, and contractual misalignment

Engineering, Legal, and Strategic Perspective

The Middle East’s construction and energy landscape presents a unique blend of engineering ambition and commercial complexity. Projects in sectors such as power generation, renewables, and infrastructure frequently involve multinational teams, diverse contract frameworks, and evolving regulatory environments.

This session will offer an integrated view of the dispute lifecycle — from root-cause engineering analysis and forensic delay assessment to arbitration strategy and expert testimony

Attendees will gain insights into:

  • The leading causes of delay and technical failure in large-scale projects
  • Best practices for early dispute avoidance and risk mitigation
  • How forensic experts, counsel, and clients collaborate to strengthen cases in arbitration
  • Emerging trends in dispute resolution across the Middle East

Why This Conversation Matters

With the region’s investment in giga-projects and energy transition initiatives accelerating, the demand for robust forensic and technical expertise in dispute resolution has never been higher. The interplay between engineering evidence, contractual frameworks, and legal procedure often determines the success or failure of multi-million-dollar claims.

DAC Consulting Services, with its global team of experts across engineering, quantum, and delay disciplines, continues to play a pivotal role in providing independent, defensible analysis that stands up to scrutiny in courts and arbitration tribunals worldwide.

This upcoming panel underscores DAC’s commitment to advancing the conversation around technical excellence, fairness, and efficiency in dispute resolution — and to supporting industry stakeholders in navigating the complexities of today’s mega-projects.

Join the Discussion

DAC Consulting Services looks forward to welcoming counsel, clients, and industry peers for an insightful and technical conversation on managing and resolving mega-project disputes across the Middle East.
