Daniel Correa and Nicholas Smith had the pleasure of attending the International Law Summits; 8th Annual Conference on Energy Arbitration and Dispute Resolution in the Middle East and Africa , which was the 12th - 13th June. In which Daniel was a speaker and DAC sponsored. The talk was about:
Behind the Claim: What Really Causes Energy Disputes in the Middle East
This brief presentation will examine the technical and operational factors that frequently lead to disputes in major energy projects across the Middle East. Drawing on practical experience from complex power and infrastructure developments, the speaker will highlight how late-stage design changes, environmental challenges, interface risks, and hidden technical failures often escalate into arbitration claims. The session will also address emerging trends, including the impact of accelerated energy transition projects and the evolving role of state-owned enterprises. It will provide practical insights into where disputes typically originate and how technical evidence can be critical in shaping outcomes.
It was the 8th Annual Conference on Energy Arbitration and Dispute Resolution in the Middle East and Africa, in London. With a fantastic turn out and great day.

DAC Mexico City Office was thrilled to host a Padel Tournament on the 28th June. The court became the perfect meeting point for our friends during the 1st DAC Padel Tournament in Mexico City. More than just a tournament, it was the perfect excuse to break the routine and strengthen connections in a different setting.
We wrapped up the afternoon with a networking after-smashes, tacos on the grill, and great conversations.
This is just the beginning… the second edition is already in the works, so don’t miss it!

DAC Articles:
- At DAC Consulting Services, we are proud to be recognised by International Law Summits (ILS) in their recent Partner Spotlight. This acknowledgement highlights the critical work our team delivers across complex construction and engineering disputes throughout the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions.
News article
An insightful article by Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc explores whether Kenya should introduce statutory adjudication to improve the resolution of construction disputes. With the rise in infrastructure development across the region, timely and cost-effective dispute resolution mechanisms are becoming increasingly important.
At DAC Consulting Services we’ve seen how statutory adjudication, particularly in the UK and other common law jurisdictions, has helped unlock project deadlocks and keep cash flowing. While adjudication is not without its challenges, it often provides a faster and more practical route to resolving issues compared to traditional litigation or arbitration.
As Kenya considers its path forward, this article is a must-read for stakeholders in the East African construction and legal sectors.
